Meet Naomi and Ruby

Early intervention specialist, early childhood teacher and founder of Future Proof Early Intervention

I’m Naomi, an early intervention specialist and early childhood teacher with more than 25 years of experience working with children from infancy through adolescence.
I created Future Proof Early Intervention to provide practical, relationship-based support that fits into children’s everyday lives. I work alongside families, educators and other professionals to understand the whole child and develop strategies that are meaningful, achievable and sustainable.
My work may support communication, play, emotional regulation, behaviour, feeding, independence, transitions and participation at home, in kindergarten and within the community.

MY APPROACH

Support built around your child and family

I believe children do best when they feel safe, understood and connected. My approach is neuro-affirming, strengths-based and responsive to each child’s individual communication, sensory and regulation needs.

Rather than expecting a child to fit into a predetermined therapy program, I adapt support around their interests, relationships, routines and environments. Families and educators are active partners, because lasting progress happens when helpful strategies can be used confidently in everyday life.

Qualified animal-assisted therapy dog working alongside Naomi

Ruby is a friendly chestnut-and-white Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who works alongside Naomi in carefully planned animal-assisted sessions.

Her calm, engaging nature creates natural opportunities for children to connect, communicate, practise new skills and build confidence. Ruby may support activities involving emotional regulation, body awareness, social interaction, waiting, turn-taking, flexible thinking and gentle, consent-based interaction.

Ruby’s welfare is always equally important. Children are supported to notice her body language, respect her choices and understand when she is comfortable or needs space.

Ruby’s training, health and wellbeing

• Qualified Animal-Assisted Therapy Dog 
• Trained and assessed to work alongside Naomi in therapeutic settings 
• Regular veterinary health and wellbeing checks 
• Fully vaccinated and covered by appropriate insurance 
• Ongoing training, supervision and welfare monitoring

Ruby works only under Naomi’s supervision. Her involvement is carefully planned according to each child’s needs, preferences and comfort. Interaction with Ruby is always optional.
